A mountain outing for all the family!
Saint-Martin-Vésubie village lays hidden in the magnificent Alpes-Maritimes Mountains. This vibrant village offers a range of activities through out the year, including canyoning, walks, tree-top adventuring and climbing. There really is so much to do here!
Parc Alpha
A visit to Parc Alpha, a wolf park, is absolutely perfect for the whole family.
The visit begins with a tour of the park and the wolf packs’ enclosures. (These are not cages.) The wolf packs have three enclosures, the smallest measures a hectare and the largest, 3 hectares. Observation huts have been positioned at strategic points throughout the park to get the best views of the wolves. With a bit of patience, you should all be able to spot some. The huts also contain lots of information about the wolves and their way of life.
The tour ends with some stunning performances held in renovated cowsheds. Both entertaining and educational, these performances teach you about wolves from the point of view of three characters whose lives have been touched by them.
Boréon Valley
Boréon valley is one of Mercantour Park’s most unspoilt valleys. Lake Boréon is located just below Parc Alpha and is the ideal place to stop for lunch (picnic areas and restaurants are close by). It really is worth setting aside some time either before or after your visit to Parc Alpha to stop and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this area.
In winter, Boréon is a great place to enjoy Nordic skiing and snow walking as the valley has 24km of pistes criss-crossing its lovely countryside.
Itinerary
Arriving at Boréon Valley:
- Take the RN6202 as far as Plan du Var then go in the direction of the vallée de la Vésubie.
- Drive past Saint Martin Vésubie for 2km in the direction of Boréon-La Colmiane.
- Park near Parc Alpha’s reception building or near the lake.
The drive to the park is an opportunity to enjoy some breath-taking views of the Vésubie Mountains. In autumn, as the trees change colours, the views are particularly lovely!
