Make the most of our snow-capped peaks while you can as a family by visiting St. Delmas le Selvage, in the high valley of Tinée, the highest commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department, split between altitudes of 1347m and 2916m. Here at 20m from the Auron station, you can go walking in snow-shoes accompanied by an eco-guide.
The St Dalmas le Selvage Office of Tourism hires out snow-shoes together with eco-guide digital devices with integrated GPS that use birdsong noises to draw attention to interesting natural wonders and feature sounds, quizzes, entertainment and photos.
The signposted and smooth route leading to the Annelle pass starts at the Office of Tourism. The exact positioning of the eco-guide device highlights all the points of interest to be found along the snow-shoe walking path.
Pretend to be a family of trappers
This is the exciting bit that the children will love: "day-time shelters" are located along this eco-guided trekking route. The Annelle shelter is of note (as well as the Gianto shelter on another route). The shelters are like real little chalets with windows. They include a frying pan and all you need to start a fire, or have a picnic while pretending to be trappers together as a family!
Auberge de l'Etoile
To top this gastronomic theme, take a table at the l’Auberge de l’Etoile and enjoy their elegant cuisine, all homemade on the premises using local produce. The starters, side-dishes and desserts are included in the price of the main dish you choose, from platter of cured duck breast with onion-fig chutney and croutons, lamb ravioli with sprigs of rosemary to chestnut pudding and so on.
