For the first excursion of spring, we are going to visit the Old Port of Saint-Tropez and surrounding treasures. In fact, spring is the best time of year to visit Saint-Tropez because the weather is nice by then, and the crowds haven’t arrived yet.

Saint-Tropez, a town of contrasts

Our walk starts at the Old Port, which is the perfect place for visitors arriving by car and by boat to start exploring Saint-Tropez. Here you will see yachts and sailing boats of unimaginable luxury moored alongside traditional fishing boats called "pointus", or ‘pointy’ because of their shape. Sometimes you can see artists working all along the docks, drawing inspiration from the beautiful scenery around them and the beautiful light of the town. The docks are dotted with restaurants and cafés so you also can enjoy the sun from their terraces.

Next, we enter the narrow shady lanes of the Old Town, where luxury boutiques contrast with the historic atmosphere of the place, giving it a unique feel. Look carefully, and you’ll find pretty little squares tucked away at the bottom of some of the lanes. From there we come to the Ponche quarter, a truly special area whose older buildings were built right on the waterfront, so that the water is used only for bathing and mooring pointus fishing boats.

Depending on the time left, we can either walk up to explore the 16th century citadel and museum, which recounts the town history, or return to the lanes of the Old Town, gently making our way to the Place des Lices, where a Provencal market is held every Tuesday and Saturday. Every other day, the square is completely taken over by boules players.

On our way back to the car park, we pass by the Museum de l’Annonciade, which, time permitting, really is worth visiting. It is home to one of the most noteworthy collections of paintings in the Côte d’Azur. Click here for more info on the Museum de l’Annonciade

the line is an indicative and approximate line

For lunch or dinner, we recommend Adresse, a restaurant located on the quai de l’Epi, where you can enjoy traditional but refined cuisine, and a friendly atmosphere is guaranteed. In the evening, the Adresse takes on a more lounge and intimate feeling.
