Getting to Breil-sur-Roya:
From Menton, take the A.8 motorway in the direction of Vintimille (Italy);
Head back towards the La Roya valley, cross the border after the Olivetta village to reach Breil-sur-Roya via the RD 6204 road.
For our latest excursion, we invite you on an original and relaxing discovery walk and draw outing.
In the La Roya Valley, close to the village of Briel-sur-Roya, works Sandrine Pallanca, a mountain entertainer, Mercantour Park expert, and talented artist. Sandrine will accompany us on a walk and draw, a slow-paced excursion to enjoy nature, particularly the plant-life, in order to draw it and understand it better.
While walking, keep your eyes peeled, pause and draw. The day’s walk is punctuated with pleasant and convivial picnics by the waterside or on the grass.
Sandrine offers a variety of walking options:
- Botanical walks to observe plants
- Archaeological walk to discover the rock drawings at Mont Bego and the Vallée des Merveilles
- Olive tree and edelweiss walk with the La Roya train to discover the villages of Liguria.
Breil-sur-Roya
If you spend a day in La Roya, make sure you make time to explore Breil-sur-Roya, a village with a Mediterranean atmosphere lit up by its colourful façades and glazed tiled bell towers.
Breil’s architectural heritage will delight lovers of old stones. Thanks to its proximity to Italy, the village is a beautiful example of Baroque Ligurian architecture. Do not miss the spectacular 17th century Church of Santa-Maria-in-Albis, nowadays classified as one of France’s historic treasures. Inside, it contains an organ, beautiful frescoes covering the vault and a 16th century altarpiece.
