DESCRIPTION

The town of Six Fours les Plages is renowned for… its beaches, as its name would indicate. As for Six Fours, this name represents the town’s six fortified defence posts. In addition to its climate and fine sand, Six Fours is brimming over with little coves which you will see as you walk along the footpaths. The Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Mai, built in 1653, perched in the hills of Cap de Sicié, provides a clear view over the bay. Lower down, the Brusc district is a reminder of the town’s true calling as a marina and fishing port. Today, you can take a ship to the Île d’Embiez. When you are there, you can enjoy the island which once belonged to monks from Abbaye Saint Victor de Marseille. Today, there is the Institut Océanographique (Oceanographic Institute), founded by Paul Ricard, which houses an aquarium which you can also visit.

ENTERTAINMENT

The town of Six Fours les Plages is the location of many events, especially in summer. For example, the music festival Les Voix du Gaou etc. As far as entertainment is concerned, the seaside resort offers water activities such as trial dives and sailing. You can also take rollerblade lessons or try forest assault courses...

LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS

Six Fours is very close to the large city of Toulon and Hyères. The town is also near to Sanary-sur-Mer, Ollioules and La Seyne-sur-Mer. Located in the department of Var, Six Fours is not very far from the large tourist hubs of the region, such as Fréjus – Saint-Raphaël and Saint-Tropez.
By air :
Toulon – Hyères Airport is the closest. For international flights, you need to go either to Nice or Marseille.
By road :
When coming from Lyons on the A7 and then the A50 motorways, take exit 12 (Bandol) or exit 13 (La Seyne Ouest/ Six Fours/ Ollioules)
When coming from Nice on the A8 and then the A57 motorways up to Toulon, then take the A50. Take exit 13 (La Seyne Ouest/ Six Fours/ Ollioules).
By train :
Closest TGV station is at Toulon. Buses make the link between Toulon and Six-Fours.
