Saint-Pierre Church
The Saint Pierre is located next to the place Grimaldi, opposite the castle entrance. Having become too small for the faithful, it was restored and enlarged over a sixteenth and the eighteenth century. Inside the church, the decorations are very rich. Indeed, some religious paintings dating back to the eighteenth century, whose painting adorns the altar, are handing over the keys to St. Peter. The original nave Gothic houses the tombs of the Grimaldi of Cagnes. Figures of the Cross, painted by Charles Barkev in 2000, shows the particularity of representing the Upper Cagnes Cagnes who agreed to pose to illustrate the passion of Christ. A guided tour and commentary is organized by the tourist office in Cagnes sur Mer on Tuesday afternoon. Copyright photo : Pierre Proust© |
