The prisoners demanded better conditions of detention in the overcrowded maximum security prison. |

1993 : Signing of a Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement in WashingtonOn September 13, 1993, at the White House during a ceremony presided over by Bill Clinton, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO chairman Yasser Arafat signed an agreement which marked the start of a Palestinian autonomy and provided the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and part of the West Bank. To everyone's amazement, the two men even shaked hands. This agreement was acted upon but the extremists on both sides did everything to sabotage the peace process and in 1995, Rabin was assassinated. |
