DESCRIPTION

Located between the sea and the hinterland of Provence, La Valette-du-Var is also a member of the urban area of the city of Toulon. It's a city which combines tradition and modernity. It has a very active downtown, but maintains a medieval village atmosphere and a varied architectural heritage.

HISTORY

The fortified village belongs to the city of Toulon at a first time, La Valette-du-Var acquires its autonomy in 1789, during the French Revolution. From that time the city developed around the activities of agriculture and soon prospered and it has 22 000 inhabitants at present.

La Valette-du-Var is a very dynamic city, offering activities throughout the year for all publics.
Different walks are proposed to discover the village and its surroundings: "Le sentier au fil de l'eau" that leads visitors to the different water point of La Valette, " le Conservatoire variétal de l'olivier sur le Coudon" which presents La Valette-du-Var in its aspect of prosperous agricultural land, or the "Circuit Botanique du Thouar".

Many cultural events for young and old are held in La Valette-du-Var:

By plane: The nearest airport is Marseille (94Km)

By rail: Toulon train station is closest (6km)

By road: From Nice take the A8 and take exit A57 towards Le Luc/Toulon/Hyères. Then take exit 5-La Bigue to La Valette-du-Var.

From Marseille take the A50 motorway towards Toulon and then the A57 towards La Garde/La Valette Sud. Take exit 3-Le Tombadou to La Valette Centre .
