Presentation of the port:
In the heart of Cannes, overlooking the old town of Le Suquet and adjacent to the Palais des Festivals, this port is one of the oldest in the French Riviera. Originally intended only for trade and passenger transport (a paddle boat has linked it from Cannes to Marseille since 1835), it continues to expand over the years, accompanying the development of tourism in the city. It became a trans-atlantic port in the years 1930-1940 (linking Cannes and New York among others), and became the cradle of the nascent boat scene of the French Riviera. It now houses the prestigious sailing and yacht club organizing internationally recognized annual regattas, including the Royal Regatta.
Access:
The harbor is well sheltered, except in the outer harbor during a strong easterly wind. Night entrance is more difficult.
