THE EIFFEL TOWER
Built in 2 years, 2 months and 5 days by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World Expo which celebrated the centenary of the French Revolution, it represents a real technical and architectural achievement. Open every day from 9.30am to 11pm and 9am to midnight in summer.

THE ARC DE TRIOMPHE
At the top of the Champs-Élysées in place de l'Étoile, this symbolic national monument has pride of place at the top of the road connecting the Louvre to the Grande Arche de la Défense. Famous for being the biggest arch in the world, it was built in 1806 at Napoleon's request to celebrate his victory in Austerlitz. A visit to the arch offers an unobstructed view over the world's most beautiful avenue.

THE LOUVRE
A former Royal Palace, it houses a museum which is Paris' largest by surface area (210,000 m2, 60,600 of which is devoted to exhibitions) and the world's most visited. It is open every day from 9am - 6pm with the exception of Tuesdays. Among the most famous pieces, this universalist museum houses the Vénus de Milo and Léonard de Vinci's La Jaconde.

THE BANKS OF THE SEINE
