1863 : Opening of the London Underground


On January 10, 1863, the London Underground is open to the public between London Paddington station and Farringdon station. The London Underground stations has now 270 stations and 402 km of track. It is the second largest metro in the world.

1920 : Treaty of Versailles comes into effect


On January 10, 1920, the Versailles Treaty came into effect, ending the First World War. On January 10, 1920, took also effect the creation of the League of Nations after the Covenant of the League of Nations was ratified by 42 states. The League of Nations was an organization created to arbitrate international disputes and avoid future wars, which did not avoid future wars and was replaced at the end of the second World War by the United Nations.

1962 : Mount Huascaran avalanche
