1952 : Death of King George VI


Upon the death of King of the United Kingdom, George VI , his daughter Elizabeth was in Kenya, in the Treetops Hotel, built on a giant ficus.
That is why the hunter Jim Corbett wrote in the hotel's visitors' register :
For the first time in the history of the world, a young girl climbed into a tree one day a Princess, and after having what she described as her most thrilling experience, she climbed down from the tree the next day a Queen— God bless her.

1971 : Golf ball hit on the Moon


On 6 February 1971, during the Apollo 14 mission, astronaut Alan Shepard, who was also the first American in space, is the first man to play golf on the moon.

2010 : Washington DC Blizzard


On 5 and 6 February 2010, a strong blizzard and snowfall ranging from 60cm to 1.20m paralyzed the U.S. capital. This storm was called "Snowpocalypse" by some and "Snowmageddon" by President Obama.
