1952 : The United Kingdom successfully tests A-bomb


On October 3, 1952, the United Kingdom successfully tested a A-bomb on the Monte Bello Islands, off the Australian coast. The country thus became the third nuclear power after the United States and the Soviet Union.

1990 : German reunification


3 October 1990, the two Germanies were reunited after 45 years of separation. In 1945, at the end of the war, the Soviet Union and other Allies clashed over the fate of Germany which led to a partition into two Germanys, one to the west and to the East, with a separation of Berlin into 2 parts while the city was in the eastern part of the country.

1995 : O.J. Simpson acquitted


On October 3, 1995, the brilliant lawyers of OJ Simpson managed to give enough reasonable doudt to the jury to make it acquit the former football player of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. After an incredible arrest and very publicized trial, OJ Simpson was freed. He will nevertheless be condemned in a civil trial to 33.5 million in damages for the victims' families.

2005 : Hurricane Stan hits Mexico's Coast


On October 3, 2005, Hurricane Stan hit the coast of Mexico and passed over the Yucatan Peninsula. The hurricane then brought torrential rains to Central America where more than 900 landslides were observed. 5000 people were killed, many buried under the mud, especially in Guatemala.
