This law allows any Cuban citizen or native who had arrived after 1 January 1959 on U.S. soil and had residing there for 2 years (one year since 1976) to become a permanent resident. 123,000 Cuban refugees were concerned. Outside the legal immigration from Cuba, much more restrictive, the law encourages Cubans to enter the U.S. illegally and gives shelter to people who have engaged in violent acts against Cuba, including against civilians for purely criminal. |

1982 : Explosion in a tunnel in AfghanistanOn November 2, 1982, a Soviet military vehicle hit a tanker truck in the middle of the Salang tunnel in Afghanistan and triggered a huge explosion.
