In 1962 Paul Ricard set up the largest private aerodrome in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and in 1970, he built the circuit next door.
This historic site is the second largest airport in Var and nowadays serves as a top international airport.
It is also home to one of France's many pilot training schools.
Flight initiations are available to adults and children under the supervision of a qualified instructor in a bi-plane and include yoke, rudder and trim pedal manoeuvres. Flying lessons last 1 hour 10 minutes (including half an hour of pure flying time) aboard a Cessna 172 or a tourist single engine airplane.
