1963 : Kennedy funeral


On November 25, 1963, President John F. Kennedy, who was murdered three days earlier in Dallas, was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors and in front of the representatives of 99 nations, after a ceremony at St. Matthew Catholic Cathedral. 800,000 people stood along the streets to pay their respect to the president.

1987 : Typhoon Nina hit the Philippines


On November 25, 1987, a Category 5 typhoon, with winds over 320km/h, hit the Philippines. 14 fishing villages were completely submerged and 35,000 homes destroyed. Over 500 people were killed.

1992 : Split of Czechoslovakia


On November 25, 1992, due to rising tensions in the country due to economic differences, the Czechoslovak Parliament voted to partition the country into two separate states: the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

2008 : Greenland votes for autonomy


On November 25, 2008, 75.5% of the population of Greenland voted for greater autonomy against Denmark. The goal is essentially to have control over their own natural resources. Greenland had already withdrawn from the European Community in 1985.
