Tip of the Day : 24 May

To ensure that your dog does not sleep in your room

A dog likes to be always with his master, including at night. But for reasons of privacy, hygiene or allergies, it is preferable that a dog does not sleep in the bedroom of his master. In addition, a dog who sleeps with his owner may be thinking he is the dominant authority in the family.

So that your dog understands that he must not sleep at night with you, you must prohibit the room at any time. Your must leave the door of your bedroom closed or put a barrier preventing access.

Once the dog enters the room, you should tell him NO firmly and take him outside the room if he does not do it by himself immediately. The ban should be permanent and constant.

You should try to find a place that your dog likes to sleep. You may put his favorite toys and congratulate him every time he turns on his bed. If your dog had the habit of sleeping in the bedroom with you, you can takeone of the bed sheets to put on his new bed.

The dog bed should be a place where your pet feels good at any time: it must be a place of reward. You should not send your dog on his bed as a punishment.
Before going to bed, it is better to spend time with your dog to play and cuddle him.
