Rapid thawing of meat

We invited our in-laws and we forgot to remove the roast from the freezer? Friends arrive unexpectedly?
Even if the meat needs to be thawed slowly, it is tempting to find a solution to accelerate the process.
We can put it in the microwave. However the outside will dry out while the heart will still be frozen.
We can put it in cold water. However the process is still long and there is a risk of poisoning if we let the meat at an inadequate temperature for too long.
You can also try to cook the still frozen meat. However the meat will lose its juice with the water and it will not be very tasty.
The best solution is to change the menu and make an omelette, for example. Or order a pizza.
