1944 : Uprising of the Sonderkommandos at Auschwitz-Birkenau


On October 7, 1944, there was an uprising of the Sonderkommandos, the commandos of the crematoria of Auschwitz-Birkenau. They partly destroyed the crematorium and fought against the SS. As the camp did not rise up to support the revolt, the Sonderkommandos were mostly killed. 1985 : An Italian ship hijacked by terrorists

On October 7, 2001, the U.S. and the UK began their intervention in Afghanistan in response to the September 11 attacks: Operation Enduring Freedom. They were helped locally by the United Islamic Front or Northern Alliance, which had been led by Ahmad Shah Massoud until his assassination on 9 September 2001.
